32 Ways to Make Money from Home Businesses for Moms

If you are a mom who is dreading going back to your old job after having a family, or a mom who is looking for more flexibility for your family but to still make ends meet, don’t worry. You’re not alone.

By starting your own business or side hustle, the sky is the limit on what you could do. Use an existing business model or create something new. Work from home, work with others. Work while your child naps or take your kid along with you.

Once you figure out how much you need to make, the next step is to start exploring options that appeal to you.

Below are business ideas that are either flexible, have non-traditional hours, allow you to work from home and/or allow you to have your children with you.

These ideas are to get you thinking and start researching. Some may benefit from a certification. Some may have upfront costs. You will have to decide what is right for you and your family.

Airbnb host or cleaner – if you have spare space to rent out, like a basement apartment, you could become a host through Airbnb. If you don’t have the space yourself, you could host for someone else and/or be a cleaner for Airbnb properties.

Babyquip provider – have excess baby gear? You could become a Quality Provider through Babyquip where you rent out and deliver baby equipment to hotels, grandparents, travellers and more.

Baker for special events – if baking is a passion, you may be able to create cakes, cupcakes, and other delicacies for weddings, parties, funerals and more.

Blogging – if you are tech savvy, good with words and have something to say, blogging may be a way to use your voice and earn income through affiliate marketing, selling products and more.

Bookkeeper – good with numbers? Bookkeeping is something that can be done virtually for small businesses, using QuickbooksOnline, Freshbooks and other online platforms.

Cleaner – cleaning may be your thing, but it isn’t something many people get excited about, or have the time for. Become a cleaner for homes and businesses with very low startup costs.

Consultant or coach in your field of expertise – perhaps you’ve spent years educating yourself and gaining experience in a particular field. Could you turn that into an income stream by offering consulting or coaching?

Copy-write for blog posts, newsletters, biographies, etc – if you are a good writer and enjoy it, you may be to make a living by writing copy for others.

Crafting & maker items – if you already produce unique items, you should look into selling your special skill on Etsy, eBay or other marketplaces. Is there something you’ve searched for but been unable to find so you made it yourself? You may be able to fill a gap here too by selling it to others.

Customer service rep – there are many companies who hire virtual customer service reps. You can respond to calls from your own home and on your own schedule. This is definitely an option for those who enjoy talking with people.

Daycare provider – you’ve got a little one to watch – or two or three. How about watching others and getting paid for it? Loving kids is a must! It is worth it to look into licensing and weighing out your options.

Doggie daycare provider – similar to a daycare provider, if dogs are more your thing, you may be able to care for dogs during the day when their owners are out.

Similarly, many landlords struggle to keep up their rental properties. A yard and driveway maintenance service could be a win-win solution.
